I had a pretty fun saturday, so i thought i'd mention a few things. Unfortunately there was no camera present for all this, so i will illustrate my story using images i found online.
I met up with Michelle, Julia, and their freind Chris (who was visiting this weekend) in Central Park to throw the football around a bit. It was a beautiful day-- a bit chilly, but sunny.
Sheep's Medow
We then walked to a place on the upper west side for brunch. if you've seen the movie You've Got Mail, you may recognize this. the food was pretty good. i'd recommend it if you don't mind waiting.
Cafe Lalo
We had a little celeb. sighting while we were there. They were waiting in line for this place also, but eventually got bored (or sick of people gawking at and asking to take pictures with (which i assure you we were NOT doing)) and got something to go. i know it shouldn't surprize me, but it seemed weird to see him being just a normal guy. it was clear he enjoyed just hanging out with his family. Good job, John.
John Stewart and family
(this photo looks to be a little old. the kids were much bigger)
That evening we all met up with Brooke Mellon and Mary Jones to go to the creepshow out on coney island. i had not yet made that journey. it turned out to be rather long. it also turns out that coney island is pretty much empty once summer is over. And it turned out that creepshow wasn't the haunted house/spook ally type venue i expected. it wasn't really even scary
(except for that you go down into the partially flooded basement of this building that looks like it should be condemmed. it's totally a lawsuit waiting to happen) just weird. really really weird. i still don't know what to think of the experience. it was awful, but awful enough that it's sort of funny, so i don't regret the evening spent making that long, weird journey. would i recommend it? ...no. but i don't know. people a little more eccentric than me might enjoy it.

here's a report the news did on it. although you can't really appreciate the full weirdness or the whole thing with just this little possitively spun clip, it gives my remarks a little context at least. enjoy

Most people are a little LESS eccentric than you are. At least here--maybe NYC fosters that trait more than Utah Valley.
Ah, the place where she waits with the rose and the book "Pride & Prejudice" and he's outside debating whether he wants to finally see her, but worries she's fat and ugly, so has his hilarious friend look for him...*breath*... best part of the movie! :) I'm jealous.
