My TV Stand (update)

Look what i found at my local PC Richards. Up till now it was only available online. But now not only is it in stores, they're using it front and center (at least at the one i visited) to display the new (and quite amazing, i must say) Samsung TV.

I like it better in person (Yes, this is the first time i've seen it in person). The photos i had seen of it made it look bigger than it is. I'd love to own one but (a) i don't think mid-century modern would go with our current decor, and (b) it's 600 bones.

If you don't know what this is or why i'm talking about it, you'll have to read this older post.

Operation Turtle Drop

The other day we had a visitor in the parking lot at work.

Later research found him (or her? seemed like a him to me) to be a common snapping turtle.

I don't know what his plan was, but there a busy street right there, so we coxed him into a trash can and relocated him somewhere he thought he'd be happy.

New Year, New Blog

From now on, all posts about life in general will be made on Michelle and my new blog. I haven't decided the fate of this blog yet, but i'll probably use it for my product design updates, opinions, reveiws, etc. and post on the new one all things pertaining to daily goings on. We'll see.

The new one isn't quite up to date yet, but it's a start.

Check out the L'oreal Paris homepage for my latest. i don't know how often they update what shows up there, but it should look like this:

After working on several concepts, then several iterations of those concepts, they told us they wanted to use an existing cap (not existing as in they already have a bunch sitting on a shelf in a warehouse somewhere; rather, they already have a mold of it so they can make more without spending money making a new mold). that happens a lot these days. anyway, so i had to throw out all my old concepts and this is what we ended up with.

New Year, new toy

I came in to work to find a large box sitting at my desk. In that box was a brand new Wacom Cintiq 21 UX.

It wasn't a total surprise. i had been told they were ordering one for me. still, i was pleased to see that it (a) actually happened and (b) that it happened so fast.

If this all looks familiar, it's because i got something similar last year. This one is bigger though (21"), and much more brand newer.

Bathroom Scale

Here's a scale i designed for Bed Bath and Beyond. Conair didn't bother telling us they made one of our designs, so i only found out because i happened to be looking on BBB's website. i haven't seen it in person so i don't know for sure, but i think it stayed pretty true to my design. i wanted the metal to be kind of a dark chrome finish. it would've been a little less in-your-face than the spun steel. but it's not bad.
Here's my drawing of it. i have a sneaking suspicion they flattened the face instead of the subtle arch i have on mine. also they didn't go with the reversed LCD i suggested. maybe i'm not as pleased with this as i thought i'd be. oh well.
