Simple Gifts

I was at the BYU Chamber Orchestra performance at Carnegie Hall last night. I was listening to the first piece, and noticed the main theme seemed really familiar. Well, the program said it was from a shaker hymn “Simple Gifts”. From wikipedia:

This Shaker dance song has become world famous thanks to its use in Aaron Copland's score for Martha Graham's ballet, Appalachian Spring, first performed in 1944.

Weezer's 2008 self-titled album features a song called "The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn)" which features some derivations from Simple Gifts.

And there it is. I had just bought that album the day before. What were the chances?
