The Car Pool

I've been car pooling to work for about two weeks now. here's what that involves: leave my place about 8, jump on the L train to Union Square (although this morning i walked there cuz the train wasn't coming for like 8 min. ) where i catch the 4 up to mt. eden ave in the Bronx, which all takes 40 - 45 min. i then jump in the car with a couple coworkers and it's another 40 - 45 mins to work.

The Good:

... actually lets start with the bad so the entry has a happy ending

The Bad:

10-15 minutes longer each way.
I don't have the freedom of choosing to be late in the morning, or to work late.
no more car singing.
i need to plan in advance if i want to use my car on the weekends (i leave it at work).

Now the Good:

TONS cheaper. I won't know till the end of the month, but it'll be more than a couple hundred a month difference.
not so much wear and tear on my tired old car.
being a passenger rather than driver gives me more time to think, read, write, or draw. plus getting stuck in traffic doesn't bother me as much when i'm not the one driving.

the above drawing started with a sketch i did in the car. i had a sharpie in my bag i used to ink it while waiting for the train. then i had some free time at work so i scanned it and colored it in photoshop. i know i don't have a future as a comic book artist, but i kinda like it. i've obviously still got Hulk on the brain.

the guys i ride with live out in Queens, so if i were to drive i'd have to drive them home then all the way back into manhattan, adding more gas and toles. so it wouldn't make sense
